Edgar Degas once said, “Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.” Interior
spaces are a blank canvas for displaying you and your style. Interior walls make up a
large portion of this blank canvas and can be treated in endless ways. From paint to
paper, stone to shell, beads to leather or petrified wood, the opportunities to express
yourself are endless.
Color. Color alone can make or break a space. The psychology behind color has been studied for years. Choosing a color that suits you as well as providing the environment
you seek to invoke is not an easy task. I work one on one with my clients in order to get
to know them personally and get to know their style and tastes; therefore I’ve been very
successful in creating spaces that they love as well as spaces that are dynamic and
inviting.
An example of a successful use of color is seen on this dining room wall.

Colors were pulled from a piece of fabric the client fell in love with and it was implemented in the wall treatment. This draws the eye around the room and creates a harmonious blend of color and balance in the space.

Faux finishes are a beautiful and classic way to dress your walls.Faux finishes require time and expertise, but the finished result can be stunning. I work with very skilled and experienced faux artists, and as you can see, the time and effort is worth it when you have a gorgeous finish as seen in this bedroom.
Specialty paint jobs don’t end with faux finishes. Murals, also known as Trompe l’oeil, which is French for ‘fool the eye,’ is a great way to make a
space feel like it continues on.

This mural of a
garden retreat was applied to a living room wall
where the interior space met with the outdoor garden space. The mural draws your eye into the
faux garden and creates the feeling of a space that extends beyond the walls of the room.
Tile and stone are no stranger to wall treatments. How
it is applied can make a significant impact though.
The tile used in this powder room is exquisite on it’s own, but applied in a conventional manner could easily get lost amongst the other elements. By applying the tile in a diagonal fashion, it now commands the space. The powder room is now a compelling piece of art that draws attention

Specialty treatments such as slabs of mother of pearl or petrified wood are rare and beautiful ways to give a space striking appeal. These specialty treatments require specialty designing in order to give them
the attention they deserve. As Ludwig Meis van der Rohe said, “God is in the details.” Don’t let the space overwhelm the remarkable details that are inside.
